Toyota continues to refine its performance lineup with the 2026 GR Corolla, a hot hatch that has been steadily improving since its 2023 debut. We had the chance to test it on track in California, alongside the GR Supra Final Edition and the GR 86 Yuzu Edition.
For 2026, the GR Corolla gains subtle but meaningful updates. Engineers added 45.6 feet of extra adhesive bonding to its chassis, making the car stiffer and more stable than even the special Morizo Edition. A new front cooling duct also helps the engine stay cooler during long track sessions, a change inspired by Nürburgring testing.
These updates join earlier improvements from 2024 and 2025, including stronger bolts, stiffer springs, revised ABS, optimized airflow, and even aluminum panels in the wheel wells. Together, they make the GR Corolla sharper, quicker, and more responsive. With 295 lb-ft of torque (up from the original 273), the 2026 model feels more powerful yet balanced, offering great control in high-speed corners.
We also tested the GR Supra Final Edition, which comes with aerodynamic upgrades and styling tweaks, and the GR 86 Yuzu Edition, which proves that a lightweight body and balanced handling can be just as fun as high horsepower.
Toyota’s attention to small details shows that evolution really does add up. For anyone considering a GR Corolla, 2026 is the year to get one.
