To celebrate the upcoming Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships, Seiko has released a stunning special edition of its Prospex Speedtimer. This limited-edition watch, model SSC955, proudly features an elegant Edo Purple dial — a color once worn by Japanese nobility and now the official color of the championships.
The watch has a 39mm stainless steel case and a classic panda-style layout, with black chronograph subdials set against a beautiful purple sunray-finished background. The black hour markers and sword-shaped hands are easy to read and glow in the dark thanks to Lumibrite. A fixed black tachymeter bezel around the dial adds a sporty and functional touch.
Inside, the watch runs on Seiko’s solar-powered V192 movement, which means it charges using light. It includes a 60-minute stopwatch, a 24-hour time indicator, and can run for up to six months on a full charge. On the back, there’s a special engraved case back that shows the Tokyo 2025 logo and each watch’s unique number, making it a true collector’s item.
The SSC955 comes with a stylish three-link stainless steel bracelet, polished in the middle for a classy finish and secured with a push-button clasp. Only 6,000 pieces will be made worldwide, making this a limited and meaningful release for both watch lovers and sports fans.
