New Balance is bringing back a retro sneaker — but this time, it’s made to look used on purpose. Called the New Balance 1000 “Dirty”, this version takes inspiration from worn-in shoes and gives the runner a vintage, lived-in vibe.
The sneaker first came out in 1999 and was brought back in 2024. Now, it’s getting a new look with a pre-distressed design. This means it looks like it’s already been worn — with smoky stains, dirt-like smudges, and faded leather. But don’t worry, it’s all brand-new. The design is just meant to make the shoes feel classic, cozy, and broken-in from day one.
The upper part features a silver color scheme with mesh and leather layers. The midsole uses ABZORB cushioning for comfort and has an aged, dirty look. Even the outsole is black to match the whole rugged style.
This sneaker isn’t the only one embracing the “dirty” trend. Brands like Nike and PUMA have also made worn-look shoes popular lately. And New Balance is adding its own spin, staying true to its classic gray tones — which fans love and celebrate every year during the brand’s “Grey Days” event in May.
So, if you like sneakers that tell a story — even before you wear them — the New Balance 1000 “Dirty” might be just for you.
