A rare 2020 McLaren Senna GTR, one of only 75 ever built, is about to go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s Arizona auction on January 24. This track-only hypercar, designed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), originally retailed for a whopping $1,780,000 USD, including nearly $75,000 in custom features.
Named after Formula One legend Ayrton Senna, the car’s design pays homage to his iconic racing helmet. It features a vibrant Solar Yellow base, accented with green and dark blue gradient stripes. Details like blue brake calipers, green aero blades, and yellow door struts complete the striking look.
Beneath the hood lies a GTR LM-spec engine, a powerful upgrade unique to this car outside the original five LM models. The engine produces an astonishing 821 horsepower and can rev up to 9,000 rpm. Advanced features like polished heads, composite matrix valve-spring retainers, and a remapped ECU push its performance to the next level.
Built for the track, the Senna GTR boasts impressive aerodynamics, generating over 2,205 pounds of downforce. It’s equipped with a large LMP1-style rear wing, an advanced front splitter, and an active aero system that adjusts to optimize performance. This allows the car to achieve up to 3.0 g of braking force.
Inside, the cabin is all about racing. FIA-approved six-point harnesses, a VBOX HD data logger, and a car-to-pit radio system highlight its competitive focus. Lightweight materials, including carbon fiber panels and Plexiglass windows, help keep the car’s weight down to just 2,619 pounds.
