Ferrari Unveils the One-Off SC40 — A Modern Tribute to the Iconic F40

Ferrari has officially introduced its latest masterpiece from the Special Projects Programme, the SC40 — a one-of-a-kind creation built for a private client. This extraordinary car blends the soul of the legendary F40 with the cutting-edge performance and technology of the 296 GTB, creating a true bridge between Ferrari’s past and future.

While the design pays homage to the 1980s icon, the SC40’s engineering is entirely modern. Under the hood, it carries the same powerhouse as the 296 GTB — a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine paired with an electric motor. Together, they deliver an astonishing 819 horsepower, allowing the SC40 to perform with the ferocity of a modern supercar while maintaining Ferrari’s signature hybrid precision.

Ferrari explained that the SC40’s name and design are a direct tribute to the F40, the supercar first unveiled in 1987. Its sharp lines, long aerodynamic nose, and fixed rear wing instantly remind fans of the classic silhouette that defined an era. However, this new model reimagines those elements with sleek curves, advanced aerodynamics, and modern carbon-fiber detailing.

The rear design features open mesh panels for engine cooling, while triangular carbon-fiber side accents reinterpret the F40’s famous NACA ducts. The cabin blends motorsport materials like carbon and Kevlar with luxurious touches such as Charcoal Alcantara and red technical fabric, giving the interior both a race-ready and refined appearance.

The Ferrari SC40 stands as a testament to the brand’s dedication to bespoke craftsmanship. It merges nostalgia and innovation, honoring Ferrari’s legacy while showcasing its future in hybrid supercar design. A life-size model of the SC40 is currently on display at the Ferrari Museum, allowing fans a rare glimpse at this unique and historic creation.
