SEGA brought its legendary ninja back to life this past weekend with the launch of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance at the Hypegolf Clubhouse in SoHo, New York. For three days, fans stepped into a special SEGA Gaming Lounge filled with gameplay, exclusive merch, and a celebration of Shinobi’s nearly 40-year history.
The highlight of the event was the Anti Social Social Club x Shinobi collection, featuring tees that honored the franchise’s journey from its early console days to the present. Guests also received collectible posters and enjoyed a cultural crossover that blended gaming, streetwear, and sport.
Inside the lounge, SEGA decorated the space with artwork from past Shinobi titles alongside visuals from the new release. Attendees tested their skills on PS5 setups for the latest game and revisited classics like Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master on the Genesis Mini. It was a rare chance to see the series’ roots and its new direction side by side.
The star of the show was the game itself. Developed by Lizardcube and published by SEGA, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance brings back hero Joe Musashi in a modern side-scrolling adventure. Players can enjoy katana combat, shuriken throws, and mystical Ninpo powers, along with new features like branching skill trees, exploratory levels, and scalable difficulty settings. Its hand-drawn animation gives the game a cinematic feel, blending nostalgia with modern polish.
By merging gaming, fashion, and golf culture, SEGA proved Shinobi’s timelessness and cultural relevance. For those who missed the event, the good news is that SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is officially out now on major platforms.
