Clothing brand 3sixteen has joined forces with Saucony to launch a special version of the Peregrine 15 trail running shoe, called the “Gesso” collection. This collection is all about creativity, nature, and personalization — letting people treat their shoes like a blank canvas.
The name “Gesso” comes from the white paint artists use to prepare a canvas. Just like gesso sets the base for a painting, these shoes are designed to inspire creativity and make each pair unique.
The first release, dropping July 10, includes two colorways — “Indigo” and “Sunflower.” These shoes are dyed using natural ingredients like plants, flowers, and roots. The dyeing process is done in collaboration with Green Matters Natural Dye Company, making each shoe slightly different with unique color shades and textures.
Here’s a quick look at the colorways:
-
Indigo: Dyed with natural indigo (blue tone)
-
Sunflower: Dyed using weld flowers (gold-yellow tone)
-
Granite: Made with cutch, iron, and chestnut (earthy grey tone)
-
Rubia: Dyed using madder root and chestnut (reddish tone)
-
Blank Canvas: A clean, off-white pair ready for your own customization
Every shoe in the collection is meant to be personalized over time. You can use things like coffee, natural dyes, or even wear and weather to give your pair its own story. It’s a mix of fashion, sustainability, and personal style.
This collaboration took months of testing and tweaking to get the colors and materials just right. It’s more than just a stylish release — it’s an invitation for wearers to express themselves and extend the life of their shoes through customization.
