As Halloween season takes over, Oregon-based animation studio LAIKA is bringing back one of its most iconic creations — both on-screen and on-foot. To celebrate the 13th anniversary of its award-winning film ParaNorman, LAIKA has teamed up once again with Nike for a special revival of the Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman.”
This re-release comes alongside the remastered 3D version of ParaNorman, hitting theaters with a new short animated film titled The Thrifting. The short ties back to the film’s quirky, supernatural world — following Norman, a boy who can speak with the dead. To mark the occasion, LAIKA opened its vault for fans, giving away 13 pairs each of the Foamposite “Weird Wins” and Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” in a special limited-time event that ended on October 13.
Originally launched in 2012 to promote the movie’s theatrical release, both sneaker models have become collector’s items over the years. The Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” stands out with a black mesh base and a glowing skeleton design wrapping around the midsole. A unique cross-bone strap system, complete with bright green hardware and laces, adds a bold and spooky twist. The neon green nubuck overlays and “One World” text stamped on the heel complete the eerie yet stylish look.
This colorway perfectly captures ParaNorman’s blend of humor, horror, and heart, using vibrant green accents to bring the undead energy of the film to life. LAIKA, known for animated classics like Coraline (2009), The Boxtrolls (2014), Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), and Missing Link (2019), continues to show its creativity beyond the screen.
