Toyota Reveals the Compact Land Cruiser FJ — A Small SUV with Big Off-Road Power

Toyota has introduced the Land Cruiser FJ, the newest and smallest member of its legendary off-road family. Set to launch globally in mid-2026, this compact SUV blends classic Land Cruiser toughness with modern practicality and a retro-inspired design.

The FJ is built on a refined IMV ladder-frame platform, known for strength and durability. Despite its smaller size, it packs impressive off-road capability, featuring excellent wheel articulation similar to the larger Land Cruiser 70 Series and a tight 5.5-meter turning radius for improved handling in rough terrain.

Its design pays tribute to the classic Land Cruiser heritage — with a boxy shape, short overhangs, and a choice between round or rectangular headlights. Toyota gives owners flexibility to personalize their FJ’s look while maintaining the rugged charm of the original.

Inside, the FJ combines utility with comfort. The cabin includes a digital instrument cluster, a wide infotainment display, and practical materials suited for outdoor use. One of its standout features is removable front and rear corner bumpers, making it easier and cheaper to replace parts after challenging off-road adventures.

Under the hood, the new FJ is powered by a 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 161 horsepower, matched with a part-time 4WD system for dependable traction.

Debuting at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ shows how the brand continues to balance its heritage, durability, and innovation in one compact yet capable SUV.
