At Geneva Watch Days 2025, Ulysse Nardin revealed the Freak [X Crystalium], a watch that blends bold mechanics with rare materials. Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, this new model pushes the creative limits of the Freak line.
Instead of a traditional dial and hands, the watch uses a rotating Crystalium disc. Each disc is one of a kind, created through a special vapor-deposition crystallization process using ruthenium, a rare platinum-group metal. This process takes days and forms natural crystal-like patterns, which are then treated with rose-gold PVD and black varnish for extra depth and shine.
The watch is housed in a matte black DLC-coated titanium case with a matching bezel and a ballistic-textured rubber strap. Inside, it runs on the in-house UN-230 automatic caliber. The movement uses a flying carousel system, where the minute bridge doubles as the minute hand. The Crystalium disc below shows the hours, creating a smooth and futuristic display.
The Freak [X Crystalium] proves that Ulysse Nardin continues to innovate in both materials and watchmaking design. Each timepiece is not just a watch, but a piece of mechanical art.
