MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) and Deus Ex Machina have teamed up to create something truly unique – two special one-off cars that combine racing spirit with lifestyle culture. The collaboration will be revealed at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich on September 6. Each car carries a bold white “X” across its roof, marking the joint creative venture.
Both models are based on MINI JCW performance cars but take very different directions. The first is a fully electric JCW J01 producing 190 kW (258 hp). It’s designed with a surf-inspired look, featuring graphics and details that bring coastal, beach culture to life. The second, a combustion-engine JCW F66 with 170 kW (231 hp), is styled for the racetrack with a sleek, performance-first design that nods to MINI’s motorsport history.
The design process was a true collaboration between Deus Creative Director Carby Tuckwell, designer Matt Willey, MINI’s design team led by Holger Hampf, and Munich-based Designworks. Together, they created cars that balance artisanal creativity with technical precision. The result? Two cars with distinct personalities but a shared DNA of bold styling, color blocking, and premium finishes.
Extending beyond cars, MINI and Deus have also developed a unisex capsule apparel collection, set to launch at IAA alongside the cars. The clothing range blends motorsport performance with modern streetwear, using quality materials and tailored details. After its Munich debut, the collection will be available globally through Deus Ex Machina.
