Grand Theft Auto VI might become the world’s first-ever AAAAA game.
According to Devolver Digital co-founder Nigel Lowrie, the upcoming Rockstar Games title has a “scope and scale” unlike anything else in the gaming industry. He explained that while games are usually described as AAA or AAAA, GTA VI could reach an even higher level — AAAAA. Its massive size, attention to detail, and cultural impact put it in a league of its own.
Gamesight CEO Adam Lieb agreed, pointing out that GTA VI has influenced almost every conversation about new game release dates. Developers are even delaying their projects to avoid competing with Rockstar’s highly anticipated title. Lieb noted that GTA VI’s impact is so big that it affects games outside its genre, from shooters to horror titles, thanks to GTA’s role-playing servers.
The game was originally set to release in Fall 2025 but has now been delayed to May 26, 2026. While Rockstar says the delay is to give the game more development time, many believe other studios are also moving their dates to avoid being overshadowed by GTA VI.
