Streetwear brand HUF has joined forces with American footwear label G.H. Bass to launch a fresh take on the classic Larson Penny Loafer. Rather than redesigning the iconic silhouette, the two brands introduced something more unique — a new “chameleon” leather.
At first glance, the loafer looks sleek in deep black. But over time, the leather slowly changes to a dark green shade, revealing a hidden layer beneath. This effect is created using a wax coating applied during production in El Salvador. Not only does the wax add a smooth touch and subtle shine, but it also allows the color transformation that makes each pair age beautifully.
The inside of the shoe also carries HUF’s signature green, and the collaboration comes with two sets of HUF “transit” coins in gold and green — a playful nod to the traditional penny detail.
Loafers have been making a big comeback in recent years, especially after the post-pandemic shift back toward more formal and stylish dressing. Many brands have experimented with new versions of loafers, blending them with sneaker elements or adding modern twists. HUF and G.H. Bass, however, stay true to tradition while adding an innovative material story.
This collaboration celebrates timeless style, but with a fresh edge that makes the loafer evolve as you wear it.
