Nike is changing how sneaker drops work with its new SNKRS Reserve system. Announced on August 24, this feature allows fans to pre-order sneakers on the SNKRS app before they are officially released.
The first shoe to use this system was the unreleased Kobe 3 Protro “Christmas”, giving lucky fans an early chance to secure a pair. Nike explained that this system helps them “make the best production decisions while giving fans access to exclusive products.” By letting buyers reserve in advance, Nike can produce the right amount of sneakers while reducing the chaos of traditional releases.
Unlike normal SNKRS drops where pairs sell out in seconds, SNKRS Reserve offers a smoother, first-come, first-serve process. Each account can only reserve one pair, which keeps things fair. For sneaker lovers, this means fewer “L’s” on release day and more confidence that they’ll actually get their favorite pair.
