Nike may be bringing Kobe Bryant’s legacy to the Dunk Low in a big way next year. According to new reports, the brand is preparing a “Protro” version of the classic Dunk Low, themed around Kobe’s 1996 NBA Draft day.
While there’s no official look yet, early mock-ups suggest a “Fierce Purple/Blue Lagoon” color scheme — a nod to the Charlotte Hornets, the team that drafted Kobe before trading him to the Los Angeles Lakers. The term “Protro” hints at a performance-focused update, meaning the shoe could feature modern materials or cushioning while keeping the retro style.
Nike has been steadily expanding its Kobe-related releases, from signature sneakers to apparel and even Kobe-inspired Air Force 1s. This potential Dunk Low Protro would mark a fresh chapter, blending Kobe’s history with one of Nike’s most popular lifestyle silhouettes.
For now, the release is still unconfirmed, but it’s expected to land in Summer 2026 through Nike SNKRS and select retailers, likely at a higher price than the standard Dunk Low.
