The first-ever World Humanoid Robot Games took place last week in China, bringing together some of the most advanced robots in the world. The event included exciting competitions such as kickboxing, soccer, track and field races, and even real-world challenges like cleaning and climbing stairs.
China’s robot Unitree was the big winner, taking home the most medals, including four golds in track and field. This showed how far robotics has come in terms of speed, balance, and coordination.
But the games also had their fair share of funny and painful fails. Some robots got knocked out during kickboxing, while others collapsed mid-race or tripped over each other in soccer, creating domino-like pileups on the field.
Interestingly, the humans working behind the scenes were almost as busy as the robots. Whenever a robot fell, assistants quickly rushed in to remove it so the games could continue safely.
