New Balance 204L “Mushroom” Brings Retro Soccer Style to the Streets

New Balance is stepping into retro soccer vibes with its all-new silhouette — the New Balance 204L. After months of sneak peeks and exciting collabs with Kith, AURALEE, and Basketcase, the in-line debut is finally set. The shoe officially drops on July 30 in its first colorway, “Mushroom,” for $110 USD.

The 204L is inspired by classic indoor soccer shoes, and you can definitely see it in the design. The sneaker has a low-profile shape, a sleek, slim sole, and curved overlays — all of which give it a sporty yet casual look.

The lead “Mushroom” colorway features a rich brown suede upper with layered paneling and soft, earthy tones throughout. The off-white laces and inner lining add a nice contrast, while the dark green textured sole finishes the look with a grounded touch. Reflective detailing on the oversized “N” logo brings a hint of shine, and the vintage-style tongue tag adds to the old-school feel.

While earlier versions appeared through limited-edition collabs, this is the first time the 204L will be available to everyone. Its lightweight feel, classic styling, and everyday wearability could make it a sleeper hit of the season.

If you're into simple yet stylish sneakers with a sporty twist, the New Balance 204L “Mushroom” might just be your next go-to pair.
