New Balance is getting creative again with another unexpected sneaker — the 1890, a fresh hybrid design that mixes style and performance.
After releasing the loafer-inspired 1906L last year, New Balance is now blending casual and sporty looks with the 1890, which was recently spotted on the feet of the brand’s senior marketing manager, Lee Stuart.
This new silhouette takes cues from the classic Clarks Wallabee, featuring a smooth leather upper with a distinct “U”-shaped vamp. The version seen so far comes in a soft yellow color with snakeskin-like overlays, adding texture and flair. Down below, it has a runner-style sole in black, packed with ABZORB cushioning for comfort and support.
Branding is kept minimal with a tiny “N” near the laces and a subtle “ABZORB” text at the heel. Inside the shoe, the white sockliner features the “1890” name, confirming the new model.
This unique shoe mixes casual design with sporty function, perfect for fans of both streetwear and performance gear.
