Seiko has introduced a new special watch to celebrate 60 years of its famous dive watches. It’s called the Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT 60th Anniversary Edition, and it honors the brand’s original 1968 dive watch — the first Seiko to have a one-piece case and water resistance up to 300 meters.
This new version is made from stainless steel and features a beautiful silvery white dial. The hour markers are filled with lume so they glow in the dark. The watch hands and the "GMT" text add a pop of red, giving the design a nice contrast. Around the dial is a bold navy blue ceramic bezel, which includes a diving scale. The GMT function allows the wearer to keep track of three different time zones, which is great for travelers.
Another first for this Prospex model is the short-pitch bracelet, which includes a special micro-adjustable clasp for a better fit.
Inside the watch is Seiko’s own 6R54 automatic movement, which offers a 72-hour (3-day) power reserve. Just like the original, this new watch is also water-resistant up to 300 meters, making it perfect for serious diving.
The Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT 60th Anniversary Edition is priced at £1,600 GBP (around $2,142 USD) and is available for pre-order on Seiko’s official webstore.
