Apple Might Launch a Smart Doorbell With Face ID

Apple is reportedly working on a new smart home doorbell that could revolutionize home security. According to tech insider Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the doorbell will include advanced facial recognition and seamless integration with smart locks, aiming to compete with popular brands like Ring and Google Nest.

The standout feature of this device is its ability to recognize faces and unlock doors automatically for residents, similar to how Face ID works on iPhones. Apple might partner with a lock manufacturer to provide a complete package or launch the product under its own brand.

Currently, Apple offers third-party HomeKit-compatible locks, but this smart doorbell would be a first for the company. Gurman suggests it could also leverage Apple’s new in-house networking chip for better connectivity.

While the doorbell is still in the early stages of development, it aligns with Apple’s plans to expand its smart home lineup. Other upcoming products reportedly include a smart home control device, a refreshed Apple TV, and a new HomePod. The smart doorbell is expected to launch no earlier than the end of 2025.
