Kurono Tokyo has introduced a new limited-edition timepiece — the Grand Jubilee Calendar — to celebrate the 60th birthday of its founder, Hajime Asaoka, one of Japan’s most respected independent watchmakers. The watch beautifully blends traditional craftsmanship with modern elegance, showcasing Asaoka’s refined design philosophy.
The Grand Jubilee Calendar comes with a salmon-pink guilloché dial, inspired by Asaoka’s childhood memory of seeing red fallen leaves through frost in a Tokyo park. The vertical guilloché pattern adds texture and depth to the dial, while black onyx-style hands ensure clear visibility. The watch also features month and day indicators integrated neatly into the design.
Adding to its refined aesthetic, a black onyx cabochon decorates the crown, and the caseback bears a gold medallion engraved to mark Asaoka’s 60th anniversary — a nod to both tradition and celebration.
The 38mm stainless steel case has been slightly redesigned for better proportions and a sleeker appearance. Inside, it houses the reliable automatic Miyota 9122 movement, offering a 40-hour power reserve and operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (vph). The overall design achieves a perfect balance between classic and contemporary — thin, elegant, and distinctively Kurono.
