adidas is honoring the legacy of Canadian hero Terry Fox by bringing back the iconic Orion running shoes he wore during his 1980 Marathon of Hope. This special release marks the 45th anniversary of his inspiring journey.
The Terry Fox x adidas Orion will launch on July 3 and will be available only through adidas Canada. Even more meaningful — 100% of the proceeds from the shoe sales will go toward cancer research in Canada.
The sneaker comes in a navy blue color with white midsoles and gold "Terry Fox" embroidery on the side. adidas’ classic three stripes stand out on the upper, and the pair comes with special commemorative laces.
Terry Fox is remembered for his incredible strength and determination. After losing his leg to cancer, he began a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. He ran an average of 25 miles a day for 143 days, covering over 3,300 miles. Before his journey began, Terry wrote to adidas asking for running shoes — and the brand sent him 26 pairs of the original Orion.
Though he had to stop his run when the cancer returned, Terry’s story still inspires people around the world. His annual Terry Fox Run continues to raise millions for cancer research every year.
This re-release isn’t just about shoes — it’s a symbol of hope, courage, and a reminder of how one person can make a difference.
