New Balance and Japanese retailer atmos have joined forces to create a special version of the New Balance 1000, named “Bāṅdhnū.” The name comes from the Hindi word meaning “to tie” and is a nod to bandanas, which are known for their unique patterns and cultural meaning.
This stylish sneaker is part of New Balance’s “Grey Days” celebration, which honors the brand’s famous grey color schemes. The “Bāṅdhnū” pairs black nubuck overlays with a white paisley print that covers much of the shoe. The design also features embroidered details and a matching interior print, giving it a bold, unique look.
As a bonus, some buyers will receive a matching bandana when they purchase the shoes. The atmos-exclusive sneaker will first be shown at atmos Kyoto on May 16, with a raffle starting on May 17, and the full release happening on May 24.
The price is set at ¥26,400 JPY (around $178 USD), and it will be available through atmos stores and their website. This collaboration also marks atmos’ 25th anniversary, making the drop even more special.
If you're a fan of bold prints, cultural style, or rare sneaker collabs, the New Balance 1000 “Bāṅdhnū” is definitely one to watch.
