Mario Kart World Brings Big Changes for Nintendo Switch 2

Get ready, racers! Mario Kart World is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s full of new features, characters, and surprises. A brand-new trailer just gave fans a look at what might be the biggest Mario Kart game ever.

Unlike past games, Mario Kart World connects each race track into one big adventure. After you finish a race, you don’t just go back to the menu — you actually drive to the next track, making it feel like a real cross-country trip.

The game has two main modes:

  • Grand Prix, where you race through four connected tracks

  • Knockout Tour, a tougher mode where players are eliminated after each race in a six-track battle

There are exciting new tracks like Crown City, Salty Salty Speedway, and Boo Cinema, as well as updated versions of old favorites like Peach Beach and Toad’s Factory. You’ll also see day and night changes during races to keep things interesting.

The character list is bigger than ever! Along with the usual stars like Mario, Peach, and Yoshi, you can now race as:

  • Goomba

  • Spike

  • Wiggler

  • Even a Moo Moo cow from Moo Moo Meadows!

New items add more fun, including:

  • Coin Shell

  • Ice Flower

  • Hammer

  • Mega Mushroom

There are also cool new gameplay mechanics like the Charge Jump, which lets you hop over obstacles or ride on walls. A rewind feature lets you go back and fix mistakes, though the race continues for others. And for a more relaxed time, you can try Free Roam mode, where you can explore, collect coins, complete missions, and even take in-game photos.

Mario Kart World launches on June 5 and will cost around $80 USD, or you can get it as part of a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle for about $500 USD.

Check the Nintendo website for more details and get ready to race!
